Digital Retinal Photography – Digital Retinal Imaging is used to detect and monitor eye disease and while many practices charge for this service, we do not.
Visual Field Analysis – Some eye conditions can effect your peripheral vision long before the central vision is compromised. This examination is very important for detecting and managing eye disease such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy. A visual field analysis is bulk billed to medicare.
OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) – This is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light to take cross reference pictures of your retina. With an OCT, each of the retina’s distinctive layers can be seen, allowing your ophthalmologist to map and measure their thickness. This examination attracts a non-claimable fee of $75.
Corneal Topography – A Corneal topographer digitally measures the shape of the cornea using 3D technology. It is a vital part in fitting contact lenses and monitoring eye conditions such as Keratoconus and Pterygium.
Contact Lens Fitting – Contact lenses are fitted on a case to case basis. Medicare has strict guidelines which allows some patients to be bulk billed to Medicare. Fitting lenses is usually a minimum of 3 visits, sometimes as many as several visits for more complex cases, and a one off professional fee will cover all these appointments.
